Sometimes in talking with we so-called believers (and yes even I fall prey to this from time to time) I wonder if we have forgotten whose we are and His keeping power? II Corinthians 4:7-10 outlines all of the things the enemy does to us and yet can only go but so far. The bible declares, “7.) But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. 8.) We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; 9.) persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed 10) always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body”.
I wonder, if all that is true then why is it that we walk around going through whatever trial we go through as if God can’t or won’t take care of it. Church folk have an expression take it to the alter and leave it there. The problem is that we may indeed take it to the alter as if to give it to God (it being whatever you problem or situation is), but as soon as we leave the alter we snatch it back out of His hands as if we enjoy our demon’s company. It’s almost like we are in an abusive relationship with our demons as my daughter Ashley likes to say. We hold it hostage. Our demon doesn’t want to be in the presence of God, it doesn’t like the name of Jesus being called in its presence. It wants to run as far away from you as possible but you keep grabbing it and not letting it run (you won’t be fully delivered). Then we have the nerve to complain about our going through as if God isn’t trying to take care of it but you won’t allow Him to. God is more than able if you just give the problem over to Him. In other words pray about it and leave it alone. God please take care of this issue as only you can, then your job is to stop worrying about it.
See what the bible is trying to show you is that if you use what I call the “But God Clause” in your life there is nothing the enemy can do to you. As I am writing to you this very moment a good friend of mine is in the hospital with heart problems (he’s not even 40 yet), his wife was kinda worried and both she and he were anticipating a heart attack based off of what the Dr.’s were doing in the room to prep. I told his wife to stand on faith. Not because I wasn’t concerned about his health but because I needed to remind them of the God they serve. I needed to remind them of the “But God Clause”. This clause that says I am sick (But By Faith) I am healed. I am poor (But By Faith) I am rich. I had nothing (But By Faith) I have houses and land because of the inheritance that is mine. See the “But God Clause” is all about speaking faith. All about standing on the word of the Almighty God. The scripture in II Corinthians is further detailing it by telling you what the enemy wanted to have you crushed but because of God (you stood on faith) he only could press you. The enemy wanted to have you feeling forsaken and all alone but because of God (you stood on faith) he was only able to persecute you. He wanted to destroy you but could only strike you.
Are you seeing the power of the “But God Clause” yet? Are you seeing that the enemy is after you to take you out BUT GOD stood in his way and said not so. There is even another promise that will help you deal with the enemy even when he is able to get a hit on you. In the book of Isaiah chapter 54 and verse 17 we find that “No weapon formed against me shall prosper, and every tongue which rises in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me, Says the Lord”. So even when he does hit you, it won’t work. It’s going to hit and may even hurt BUT GOD stopped it in its tracks and said that’s as far as you go Satan. No matter what it is he tries he can only go so far as long as you stand in faith and apply the “But God Clause” to your life. It’s alright to speak the situation as it is but then speak faith and call the situation not as it is but as it’s going to be. You wanted to destroy me Satan but you can’t because my faith stands firm. I maybe pressed, I may be persecuted, I may have been struck but by faith I have the victory. Nothing you can do can hold me down because He dwells in me and my life is carrying the life of Jesus in me. As He defeated you and every situation so can I. You may want me BUT GOD says you can’t have me.
I pray this has been some kind of help to someone reading who may be going through. Remember that your going through is only temporary. Satan can’t do to you what he wants to do because God has His hand on you. Stand in Faith and apply the “But God Clause” to your life.
